A New Addition

Recently, we dove in and acquired a right-sizey bundle of fur.  A designer dog best known as a doodle dog.  Doodle dogs are hybrids of poodles.  Never thought I'ld be caught dead with one of these but here we are and in absolute love.

Now that we have a puppy, it is time I start diving into the uses of essential oils on pets.  So the next several posts will be about the benefits of essential oils on dogs, as well as, a list of oils to keep away from your dog.

Spotlight on Essential Oils

Just discovered this infographic chart by Bulk Apothecary, I thought I would share.  Not by Doterra but still gives you a visual on the history and common uses of some essential oils.

Lavender, The Swiss Army Knife of Essential Oils

Latin Name: Lavandula angustifolia

Description:

This well known Mediterranean herb's name comes from the Latin word, lavandus which means to wash.  The Romans used it in their baths.  Lavender is still a popular soap scent. However many commercial lavender scents are camphorlike with inferior healing properties.  These scents being less expensive are produced in greater quantities.  To get the full effect of the soothing lavender properties one should avoid these camphorlike oils and experience a company like Doterra that harvests only the lavandula angustifolia.  It is gentle and works wherever there is a need.

Not only has lavender been historically used to scent soaps but it is used as a sedative, an insect repellent, a stomach soother, to scent linen and also used as a reviving but soothing oil.  I have yet to find someone who did not benefit from Doterra's lavender in helping them get a decent night of sleep or to help ease a bug bite or burn.  It is so versatile, it should be a staple in the home. When in doubt use lavender.

Why?

Why did I choose to start this blog?  Simply put, there is need to get the word out there of alternative methods to keeping your family balanced and healthy.  Don't get me wrong, I respect the medical industry and believe that God gave us the ability to set up these establishments to help us on our journey to maintain health and give a chance to fix diseases.  But it is not a cure.  Neither are alternative means a cure.  However, alternative means such as chiropractic work and essential oils (Doterra) along with good nutrition and exercise helps the body function the way it was meant to be.  These alternative means allow, or reteach, if you will, the body to use its resources for ultimate health.  Whereas, the medical field offers quick fixes to problems but rarely addresses the root cause.  If one does not address the root cause or foundation, then the body will forever be prone to illnesses.

Why did I choose Doterra?  Mainly, I was interested in essential oils and a Doterra rep approached me at the right time.  I had tried store oils and had some negative experiences (mainly tea tree and lavender).  But I knew my favorite doctor, Suzanne Seekins, swore by the oils. Something had to be amiss with the store brand.  With Doterra, I had someone teach me how to choose and use them.  And allowed me to test the product before I bought into it.  I was able to experience first hand the safeness of the product.  Smell it, see it, even taste without any major adverse side effects.

Doterra is all about the experiencing essential oils.  It is the education behind it.  The company encourages their clientele to do the research and learn as much as possible.  They provide resources to become an informed customer.  We just need to google and try the oils on for size.
